10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE IGBO FESTIVAL OF ARTS AND CULTURE (IFAC)

London, 12th July 2025

The Congress of Igbo Leaders UK and Ireland was proud of the very successful celebration of a significant milestone, the 10th Anniversary of the Igbo Festival of Arts and Culture (IFAC).

This landmark occasion brought  together distinguished traditional rulers, community leaders, dignitaries from African embassies, local UK officials, and guests from across the globe to honour a decade of cultural preservation, pride, and unity within the Igbo diaspora.

What began ten years ago as the humble vision of twelve dedicated Igbo patriots has now evolved into one of the most distinguished celebrations of African heritage in the United Kingdom. These founders, through personal sacrifice and unwavering commitment, laid the foundation for a cultural legacy that continues to thrive far from home.

From its modest beginnings, IFAC has grown into a powerful platform that showcases the richness of Igbo traditions. It's language, music, dance, fashion, and values. The festival now stands as a beacon of identity, connecting generations of Igbo descendants to their roots, while promoting cultural understanding and community cohesion among diverse audiences.

“This celebration is more than a festival. It is a remembrance, a tribute, and a testament to the resilience and pride of the Igbo people,” said Ekpe Mazi Obi Okoli-Ojeluigbozi, Coordinator of the Congress of Igbo Leaders UK. “We owe this moment to our community’s unity and the tireless support of our elders, our youth, and especially our noble Igbo mothers and fathers who have supported this vision from the beginning.”

Mazi Obi Okoli ceased the opportunity to remind Ndigbo of the need to begin robust development of Igboland. He urged Ndigbo not to continue to spread fear amongst themselves, but to share positive thoughts and information that will create the enabling environment for development. He called on the government of Igboland to secure the lives and properties of the Igbo both within and outside Igboland.

Speaking at the event Cllr Margaret Greer Mayor of Enfield encouraged Ndigbo to continue to play position role in the United Kingdom. She welcomed all Igbo and their friends to Enfield and wished them a peaceful festival.

The 10th Anniversary celebration featured a vibrant showcase of performances from Igbo communities, clubs, and associations across the UK and beyond, including participants from Nigeria, France, Germany, Spain, the United States, South Africa, and Haiti.

The Congress extends sincere gratitude to all dignitaries, cultural organisations, and supporters who joined in making this year’s celebration a success. Their presence is a testament to the value of cultural exchange and the enduring power of heritage.

As the festival looks ahead to the next decade, IFAC remains committed to promoting Igbo identity, educating future generations, and strengthening the bonds of unity and cultural pride within the global Igbo community.
